What is NAMI Family-to-Family?
It is a 12-session educational program for family, significant others, and friends of adults (18+) who are living with a mental health diagnosis. The course provides critical information and strategies for supporting the person you love, as well as communication and problem solving skills, family advocacy, caring for yourself and other family members, and much more!
Qualifications for Teacher Training: (1) Must be a family member/significant other of an adult (18+) who has a mental health diagnosis. (2) Although preferred, it is not mandatory that you are a graduate of the NAMI Family-to-Family class. (3) Willingness to attend the 3-day mandatory teacher training. (4) Candidates will adhere to the NAMI program guidelines of confidentiality. (5) Must be a NAMI member prior to beginning training.
Training Location, Date, & Times: Training to be held at NAMI Dauphin County office, PPI (PA Psychiatric Institute), 2501 North Third Street, Harrisburg, PA. Friday, Feb. 22, 1:30 pm to 8:30 pm (dinner provided). Saturday, Feb. 23, 8:30 am to 6:00 pm (lunch provided). Sunday, Feb. 24, 8:30 am – 2:30 pm (lunch provided).
Lodging and Travel Information: NAMI York County will pay for motel expenses and meals not covered in the training (keep receipts). NAMI York County also pays for mileage (not gas). Motel will not be at the same location as the training.
