I have lived in the Adams/York county area my entire life which has helped me be aware of the resources available around me. My husband and I have been married for 21 incredible years, We have 3 grown children, and our youngest is currently serving in the US Marine Corps. I had the privilege of being a stay at home mom while my children were in school. I have and continue to work as a PRN facilitator for Adams and York county Human Services for 12 years. This job has given me the opportunity to work with families in crisis.
Reason for Seeking Board Membership:
I have watched many of my family members struggle with their mental health and even lost a brother to it 14 years ago. I was also diagnosed with depression about 7 years ago and medication helped me tremendously until September 2018 when our family went through numerous traumatic events. When my primary care physician prescribed me a new medication, and my insurance denied it, it put me in a crisis where I was on three different medications within 3 weeks. This caused me to have a horrible reaction which ended in an attempted suicide. After spending a few days in the hospital, it became clear to me that I wanted to help others with their own mental health. It has become my purpose to share my story and advocate for those that can’t advocate for them selves.
